About the Lab

Understanding how communication shapes behaviour — and using that knowledge to build healthier, more sustainable communities.

Behaviour change is a critical factor in addressing many of today's societal challenges, particularly in the areas of health and climate change. Without encouraging positive behavioural practices, efforts to improve public health, environmental sustainability, and community wellbeing cannot be fully effective.

The Behaviour Change Communication Lab at the Central University of Himachal Pradesh (CUHP) works to understand how communication strategies influence individual and community behaviours and how these insights can be used to design effective interventions.

Evidence-Based Approach

The lab conducts independent, evidence-based research to identify which behaviour change communication approaches are effective, which are not, and why. Through systematic reviews, intervention-based studies, and qualitative and quantitative research methods, the lab generates insights that support better decision-making for policymakers, practitioners, and communities.

Our work is guided by the goal of promoting sustainable behavioural practices that improve health outcomes and support climate-responsive actions.
